This volume of psalm and hymns was one of the first books to be printed in the United States. Originally printed in 1737, the book was produced in Lewis Timothy's printing house in Charleston, South Carolina. This edition is a facsimile reprint of the original. Lewis Timothy was one of the first and certainly most prominent of the early American printers. He worked for Benjamin Franklin when his operation was based out of Pennsylvania, and he would go on to become the first American librarian. The Lewis Timothy print shop still stands at 97 King Street in Charleston, today.
